Restoring of concrete is matter of proper preparation approaches. Take the project in this photograph.
The condition of this concrete was uneven, cracked in several places, and the surfaces was spalling or weakening and softening. We repaired all the weak spots and cracks with a polymer material that provides sufficient flexibility to avoid further deterioration of the concrete.
By introducing illustrations or shapes diverts the weakness for restoration. Think about this process as stitching up wounds as part of cosmetic surgery. Then we place semi rigid epoxy to further strengthen the concrete from natural expansion and contraction, which is what first began to cause the cracking problem.
Once the preparation is completed, we grind the surface to bring out the natural “aggregate” or stone originally embedded in that concrete slab. Think about this process as an aggressive exfoliation to type the cosmetology analogy.
Once the preparation process was completed, we began to apply acid stains by hand. The beauty of acid stains is its translucent features. This transparency allows for the aggregate to be enhanced with the stain colors.
Below are other images to show you the other part of this project.
In concrete restoration you can have your concrete colored with acid stains, water-based stains, epoxies, even polished concrete treatments.
There are a couple of things to consider when deciding to tackle your restoration project:
- Consider a realistic budget and
- Make sure you sign off on sample. Samples at realistic sizes are the best way to get a pretty good idea of the final result.
